Mangalore, Apr 12: Mangalore police have made headway in the murder case of Prashant Kunjathbail, manager of city-based Adinatheshwara Roadlines, arresting four of the accused in the case near Talapady on Friday.

The four persons apprehended by the police are Bhavanishankar alias Manoj (32) from Jeppina Mogaru, Naveen Shetty alias Pili Naveen (32) from Anandnagar, Kavoor Post, Bhavish alias Munna (24) from Bekur, Kasargod, and Praveen K P (24) from Kalladka.

They were nabbed by a team of police sleuths from Mangalore South police station and City Crime Branch led by Assistant Commissioner of Police from Mangalore South sub-division, when the group was plying towards Mangalore from Kumble in Kasargod district in a Toyota Qualis, which incidentally was the same vehicle used for the murder.

Prashant alias Pachchu (35) was shot and brutally hacked to death by a gang of assailants late night in front of Mangala Bar in Valencia here on Sunday.

Enmity between two rival gangs is said to be the sole cause for Prashant's murder, which is said to be an act to avenge the murder of the notorious Bejai Raja who was hacked to death in Falnir late night on November 30 last year. However, Prashant had no criminal antecedants.

One of the accused Bhavanishankar had been arrested previously in connection to four separate cases of murder, said Commissioner of Police Manish Kharbikar, briefing reporters here on Friday.

Having slight underworld overtones, the murder of Prashant was committed using a revolver and sharp weapons. Based on reliable information, the team of sleuths tracked the four suspects from Kumble and arrested them near Talapady. The revolver and four swords used in the murder were also recovered from the vehicle they were travelling in.

Police sources said that further investigation was still on, and police were on the hunt for the remaining assailants involved in the murder case.

Mangaluru, May 4: A tragic incident unfurled last evening in Subrahmanya of Kadaba taluk in Dakshina Kananda, where a young gentleman, who had recently entered the bonds of matrimony a mere ten days hence, met his untimely demise due to a lightning strike.

As twilight descended, a tempestuous thunderstorm, accompanied by billowing rain clouds, cast its shadow over the locale.

Somasundar was diligently engaged in the task of piling up dried nuts in the yard to shield them from the impending deluge, when fate cruelly intervened, subjecting him to the fatal force of a lightning bolt.

Despite the expeditious efforts to convey him to Kadaba Community Hospital subsequent to his sudden indisposition, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Somasundar, who operated a car washing enterprise in proximity to Subrahmanya, is mourned by his mother, sister, and wife.
