Mangalore, May 11: A thronging crowd flocked downtown as the 'Bigg Boss' of Kannada Sudeep paid a visit to the city on Saturday to promote a jewellery store located in Falnir.
Sudeep is the brand ambassador of Joyalukkas, a jewellery store, and was in Mangalore to promote the Akshaya Tritiya celebrations in the Mangalore branch of Joyalukkas.
As news spread in the area about his imminent arrival on Saturday, people began milling inside the store to catch a glimpse of the superstar. When he finally arrived, they jostled with each other vying for the best spot to interact with the film actor.
'Encha Ullar?' he asked the crowd in halting Tulu, admitting to not knowing the language. “But the people here are wonderful,” he said, to the cheering crowds.
“My mother hails from Udupi, so that makes me half-Mangalorean,” he jested with the crowd, which looked like it could not get enough of the star, as they cheered and whistled for him.
Although few looked disappointed after his short appearance, most seemed delighted as they got an opportunity of seeing him front and up-close. One elderly lady was thrilled as the Kannada actor obliged and warmly shook hands with her.
Joyalukkas Regional Manager (Karnataka) Joseph Kunjappu, Regional Manager (Kerala) and branch manager of the store Anhar H K were present.
