When all the students of the girls' hostel had been away to have their dinner at night, Roopa had remained in her room. When her roommates returned after dinner, they found her hanging from the fan with a nylon rope.
Having been home during holidays, it is been said that the pressure of her family to show them her I PUC marks sheet as well as achieve good marks in her current year had led her to take the extreme step.
Suicide note
Before committing suicide, Roopa had left behind a death note which stated that she herself was responsible for her death.
“I am unable to control my mind and thoughts. It is not possible for me to live up to my family's expectations. Forgive me,” she wrote in the note.
Moodbidri police have registered a case.
