Mangalore, July 24: Clinching their third consecutive win of the Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) 2013 in the Rally of Coimbatore, defending champion Amittrajit Ghosh and co-driver Ashwin Naik have made a hat-trick of victories this season.
Driving a Mitsubishi Cedia, Amittrajit Ghosh from Kolkata and Ashwin Naik from Mangalore got ahead of the competition and ranked first overall in the Group N category, after their success in Chennai and Nashik earlier this year.
After their winning sprint in the previous season of the INRC, the duo shall be looking at clinching the coveted championship title this season as well. The championship this year has two more rounds, which will be held in Bangalore (K1000) and Chikmagalur which will be held in October and November respectively.
Other categories
In the Indian National SUV Rally Championship Gaurav Gill and Musa Sherif also clinched their third consecutive win in the Mahindra XUV 500 category, followed by Lohith Urs and Bonnie Thomas who ranked second.
In the 1600cc category, it was Byram Godrej and Prajwal Pai who won, followed by Arjun Rao and Satish Rajagopal.
In the Junior category (JINRC), youngsters Asad Khan and Zayne Asrar emerged victorious.
The 347km-rally concluded on the tarmac of Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore with a Super Special stage that saw Amittrajit Ghosh and Gaurav Gill enthralling the capacity audience with some power slides.
