
Mangalore, Aug 22: The Akhila Bharatha Billawar Union in association with Narayan Guru educational institutions celebrated the 158th birth anniversary of Brahmashree Narayan Guru at Damodhara R Suvarana Hall, Narayan Guru College, Kudroli on Thursday.
MLA, Mangalore South Constituency, J R Lobo delivering his inaugural address at the formal function said that Brahmashri Narayana Guru was a social reformer who worked without looking for any reward. He tried to get social reforms and development with maintaining social equality, he said.
However mere birthday celebration will be incomplete if we failed to follow his path, he said.
“Our life will be successful with his words of respecting every religion and follow them without any discrimination”, he opined.
Narayana Guru worked for social reform and development of the society. He is a role model for every religion and showed how one can make changes in the society. Through his work he earned respect from each and everyone, said Naveenchandra D Suvarna delivering his presidential address.
Formal function was followed by talk by eminent journalist Balakrishna Puttige and Dr. P.L. Dharma, political lecturer of Mangalore University.
