Mangalore, Sep 12: A Dalit woman who is working in Home Guards office has filed a case against Home Guards Commandant and Assistant Commandant alleging sexual harassment at workplace.

The complainant, resident of Surathkal said that she was being harassed by Commandant and Assistant Command and was suspended from duty for not supporting their acts.
“I had joined the Home Guards in 2001 and was working as computer operator. The Commandant started harassing me after September 2012. I was made to work in the night and was asked to come to office even on holidays and was misbehaving with me. When I started opposing their acts, I was removed from the duty,” she said in the complaint.
Kavoor police have registered cases under IPC Section 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), IPC 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and also under SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989.
