Addressing mediapersons at a press meet in MangaloreSeverine Rosario, Principal of the centre said that Adarsh Somayaji of Canara High School Urva, Pulkit Sareen of Delhi Public School and Sneha Mahajan NITK School have qualified in the national level NTSE (National Talent Search Examination).
A total of 1035 students have been selected this year from the country at the nationwide competitive examination conducted by the National Council for Education and research, (NCERT).
These successful students are called National Talent Scholars. They will be eligible for a scholarship of Rs.500/-per month from 1st PUC until they finish their Ph.d. The NCERT comes under the Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India.
The selection process is in two stages. First, State level and then at National level. This year, 50711 students had appeared for the State level NTSE Exam from Karnataka, held on 18th November 2012.
The Department of State Education and Research Training (DSERT) had selected 223 students from among them through a competitive examination.
