
Mangalore, Oct 10: Popular Front of India's first phase of relief work for the cause of Muzaffarnagar riot victims has been completed.
Informing mediapersons about the same, PFI National General Secretary O M A Salam said that the organization had plunged into relief works in the affected areas after forming three teams - Relief Distribution Team, Village Survey Team and Legal Team.
“The teams will conduct survey in 38 villages where the riot victims had taken refuge. As of now, over 3,000 families in 16 villages were given relief commodities by the organization. The relief kits had in it two blankets and other household commodities,” he said, adding that apart from this, every family had been given 500 gms of milk powder.
"The survey of remaining 22 villages is in progress. A 21-member team comprising of legal professionals, activists and law students is providing legal aid to the victims through the'Legal Helpdesk' opened in Muzaffarnagar,” he said, informing that several complaints have been registered at the help-desk with over 5,000 cases of atrocities.
