Puttur, Jan 17: In spite warning by the Dakshina Kannada district administration and the presence of around 1,500 policemen and Rapid Action Force personnel at the venue, speakers at the ‘Virat Hindu Hrudaya Sangama’ crossed the limits and apparently mocked and abused non-Hindu Indians.

Thousands of Sangh Parivar activists had gathered at the Mahalingeshwara Temple grounds in Puttur on Friday evening to get “guidance” from Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s International Working President Dr Praveen Togadia and RSS Kshetreeya Sampark Pramukh Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat.

Strongly defending the so called “Ghar Wapsi” initiative, Dr Togadia said that re-conversion to Hinduism campaign would continue unabated throughout the country despite opposition. However, he hastened to add that the convention of Hindus to other religions should not be allowed.

Reiterating his demand for a uniform civil code in the country, he said that the two-child norm should be forcefully implemented across all communities especially among Muslims.

“The governments should make the two-child norm applicable to all and deny facilities such as ration card or voting rights to those who have more than two children,” he said. “If you (government) cannot do it, we have to call upon our youth to have three children,” he added.

Mr. Togadia said that the number of Hindus should be bolstered and added that he would greet wholeheartedly anybody who adopts Hinduism, which, he said, was “the way of life”.

He also warned Hindu youth against alleged ‘Love Jihad’ and exhorted them to protect Hindu women from falling in love with any Muslim youth.

Prabhakar Bhat, who gave several special “advises” to the Sangh Parivar activists, called upon the Hindu youth to carry weapons such as swords and six-inch knives.

Abusing members of a particular community, Bhat lashed out at Hindu intellectuals for raising voice against Hindutva and saffronization.

Lamenting that the Hinduism is facing threat from certain sections of Hindus, he said that “the intellectuals are dogs”. He also urged the Hindus to sideline the intellectuals and not to pay attention to them.

The RSS leader also warned Hindu girls against falling in love with Muslim youth after watching movies of Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. He lamented that photos of those actors could be seen on the walls in many Hindu houses.

Bengaluru: 'Nati koli saaru' (country chicken curry) considered one of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s favourites along with steaming hot idlis was on the breakfast menu at Deputy CM D K Shivakumar’s residence on Tuesday, according to official sources.

The spread also included 'nati koli' fry, vada and pongal, among other items, they said.

In an apparent show of unity, Siddaramaiah visited Shivakumar’s residence for breakfast, just days after the two leaders shared a meal amid a simmering power tussle in the state Congress.

Siddaramaiah drove to the Deputy CM’s residence in Sadashivanagar, where he was received by Shivakumar and his brother D K Suresh, who is a former Congress MP.

Suresh and Kunigal MLA H D Ranganath, a relative of Shivakumar, joined them for breakfast, which featured a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.

Speaking to reporters later, Siddaramaiah said Shivakumar had invited him during his visit to the CM’s residence for breakfast on Saturday.

Asked about the difference between the two meals, the chief minister said, "At his (Shivakumar’s) house it was non-veg, while at my house it was veg. He is a vegetarian, I am a non-vegetarian. I had not prepared non-veg. I told DK to get chicken from the village as you won’t get the original in Bengaluru."

Shivakumar said he had initially invited Siddaramaiah to his residence, but the CM had suggested visiting his place first and reciprocating later. "It was a vegetarian breakfast at the CM’s house on Saturday," he noted.

"Today, I invited him (the CM) to my house. He enjoyed the breakfast, which had his Mysuru taste," Shivakumar added. At this point, Siddaramaiah remarked that Shivakumar’s wife is also from Mysuru.

Saturday’s breakfast at Siddaramaiah’s official residence, held as part of efforts by the Congress high command to ease tensions in the leadership dispute between the two, reportedly included idlis and sambar, according to official sources.

Mangaluru, Dec 2: Mangaluru International Airport responded to a medical emergency late on Monday night. Air India Express flight IX 522, travelling from Riyadh to Thiruvananthapuram, was diverted to Mangaluru Airport after a passenger in his late 30s experienced a medical emergency on board.
