Mangaluru, Feb 17: The City Crime Branch of Mangaluru City Police has busted a ganja peddling racket by arresting two persons. Around 5 kg ganja and three mobile phones worth Rs 1.66 lakh have been recovered from the duo.
The police took them into custody when they were allegedly trying to sell ganja near a hotel in Bejai Kapikad under the Urva Police limits. The accused had allegedly procured the contraband from Idukki district in Kerala.
Rai has six cases of drug peddling registered against him in different police stations of Mangaluru as well as Kasargod.
The accused as well as seized cannabis have been handed over to the Urva Police for further action. CCB Police Inspector Sunil Y. Naik, Police Sub-Inspector Shyam Sundar were part of the team.
Another arrest
In a separate development, Dakshina Kannada district police arrested Umar Farooq, 28, a resident of Gerukatte in Kalia village in Belthangady taluk on charges of possessing 170 grams of ganja and registered a case under NDPS Act against him.
