Bengaluru, Feb 6: The Karnataka Health Department officials on Saturday clarified that death of a ASHA worker from Belagavi, who passed away on February 3, was not due to the side effects of the Covid-19 vaccine that she's received but following an ailment she had been suffering from for a while.

Side effects, if any, should have shown in two days but none were noticed. She worked as per assignment and carried out surveys and other duties," RCH Officer Dr I P Gadad said.

The ASHA worker, a resident of Galatga village in Nipani taluk, was administered the Covid-19 vaccine on January 22 at the Galatga Primary Health Centre. She faced health problems on January 30 and died on February 3 during treatment. Family members said that she was suffering from headache and similar ailments and was availing treatment every three months, Gadad added.

We have been informed that she died due to bleeding in the brain. Postmortem, if conducted, could have given a clearer picture," he said.
