Mangaluru, Oct 26: Bharatiya Janata Party is playing the dirty trick of diverting people’s attention from the real issues and total failure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led union government by attacking religious minorities, according to human rights activist and journalist Teesta Setalvad.

Speaking at a seminar on 'Talking peace in times of hate' at Sahodaya Hall, Balmatta on Wednesday, she called upon the people to unite against fringe elements and fight against communal forces. "People of Mangaluru should not to get carried away by BJP's ploy,” she said.
Ms Teesta urged activists working on different fronts to form an alliance. She underscored this as an effective way to tackle the biased treatment of the minorities.
During the session, it also emerged that the district is gaining notoriety for communal tension as a student from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, said he was in the city to do a study on communal tension in DK as for his PhD thesis.
