Bengaluru, Nov 19: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today attacked Opposition BJP for allegedly provoking farmers and forcing them to stage agitation against JDS-Congress Coalition government headed by him.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he said that "I will not bow to the tactics by State BJP headed by former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa."
Mr Kumaraswamy said that since last three days the farmers were agitating and it was allowed it as it was democratic right.
On one occsion when a woman came to me and said about arrears due from Sugar Mills, "I addressed her as Mother, is it wrong to address a woman as Mother.
In rural language I asked why you were keeping quiet since last four years, were you sleeping now you are blaming me for non-payment of arrears by the Sugar Mill owners.
Parameshwara's statement
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara on Monday alleged that the Opposition BJP is provoking farmers against the Congress-JDS coalition government as it was against the State taking welfare measures taken up for the welfare of the farmers.
"BJP is getting angry as the Coalition government is taking series of welfare measures to help farmers of the State.
The welfare programms included waiving off farmers loan taken from nationalised Banks and cooperative institutions etc", he added.
Speaking after offering floral tribute to former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi on her birth Anniversary, function organised at Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) here, he said that "Ms Gandhi is a great leader and hence she was remembered for ever because of her works and welfare programmes undertaken during her tenure including Green Revolution, Nationalisation of Commercial Banks to enable common man to get loan and other benefits.
But BJP has not contributed anything for the welfare of the people and the society, but indulging in spreading false propoganda against Congress party and now provoking the farmers to agitate against the State Government.
