Bengaluru, Nov 7: Congress Lok Sabha member D K Suresh today accused the NDA Government Government led by BJP 'forcing' central agencies like Enforcement Directorate, the CBI and IT Departments to act against opposition leaders, who are on the rise, and said such moves was detrimental to democratic values of the country.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr Suresh said that the party had information that the agencies were moving towards taking action against his brother and influential Karnataka Minister D K Shivakumar in cases relating to recent raids by the IT department on his home and several offices in Bengaluru and elsewhere in the country and may arrest him.
''BJP is using these agencies to force opposition party leaders to fall in line and even join the party.
This is a disturbing development and will weaken democracy in the country,'' he added.
The Kanakapura Lok Sabha member, with four other Parliament members referred to former BJP Lok Sabha member B Sriramulu's statement before Ballari Lok Sabha Bypolls held on November 3, saying that ''D K Shivakumar will go to jail and J Shanta will go to Delhi''.
