Hubballi, Nov 18: A day after Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara expressed his willingness to become the Chief Minister, the Congress-JD(S) coordination panel chief Siddaramaiah on Sunday said that there was no vacancy for the post.
Speaking to media persons at Hubballi Airport here on Sunday, the former CM said: “Parameshwara has expressed only his capabilities of becoming chief minister.
"There are several leaders in Congress who are capable of becoming chief minister. However, only the high command and MLAs will take a call on this," he said.
At present, given the fraction mandate, the Congress has given chief minister post to the JD(S) and there is no vacancy for cm post now, added Siddaramaiah.
While speaking to reporters at Belagavi, DyCM said that he is ready to take on the responsibility as chief minister if the high command wishes. Parameshwara also said he has long experience of being a KPCC president and is fit to take on responsibility of any post when asked about projecting minister D K Shivakumar as the next CM candidate in the Congress.
