Mangaluru, Jul 12: Senior journalist, activist, scholar and journalism teacher Dr Ronald Anil Fernandes has been appointed as a member of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).
A recipient of prestigious Sarojini Naidu Award, the Media Academy Award, and the Dakshina Kannada District Rajyotsava Award, Dr Fernandes was working for Deccan Herald for over two decades.
He resigned as the Mangaluru bureau chief of the English daily after he received the appointment order from Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala. He was also the president of Mangaluru Press Club for past three years.
Dr Farnandes is an alumnus of Mangalore University, from where he earned his master degree in mass communication and journalism. He obtained doctorate under the guidance of Prof. K V Nagaraj.
