Bengaluru. Nov 9: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will not attend the Tipu Jayanthi celebration, organized by the State Government, on Saturday.
The Celebration will be held at Banquet Hall in Vidhana Soudha, the State Secretariat by Kannada and Culture Department.
Confirming Mr Kumaraswamy's absence in the celebration, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Dinesh Gundu Rao clarified that "the Chief Minister is not attending the Celebration tomorrow due to personal reasons and not with fear of losing the power as alleged'.
Why should he be afraid of losing Chief Minister's post when the Coalition partners have a majority in the house and also Congress and Janata Dal (S) scored a resounding win in the recently held byelection winning two Lok Sabha and both the Assembly seats."
"He had already stated about his inability to attend the Celebration at Banquet Hall," Mr Rao added.
According to sources, Mr Kumaraswamy has been advised three days rest by Doctors due to health reasons. He would be going to Mysuru along with his family and will not be in a position to attend.
Congress leader and Minority Affairs and Wakf Minister Zamir Ahamed Khan had stated that the function will be held at Banquet hall and not at Ravindra Kalakeshtra as stated by Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara earlier.
However, the entry was restricted only to invitees.
