Kalaburagi, Oct 20: Congress leader in the Lok Sabha M Mallikurjun Kharge on Saturday expressing his disappointment over again raising of 'Lingayat' issue in the State Congress, said that "Congress seeks votes on development work and not on religion plank".
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Kharge expressed anguish over Karnataka Water Resources Minister D K Shivakumar apology statement over the religion in the Congress ahead of the crucial byelection and Lok Sabha election due in 2019.
Mr Kharge said "I will not mix politics with religion and any body calling me to discuss about it than only I will talk about it."
When asked about Supreme Court verdict on Sabarimala Ayyappa issue, he said that everybody should follow the Apex Court judgement and allow woman devotee to the hill shrine.
"In the name of religious custom we should not blindly follow all the belief and should reject evil practice," he added.
