Mangaluru, Feb 11: In the wake of several Kerala students testing positive for Covid-19 in various educational institutions, the Health Department has sent the throat swab samples of over 200 Kerala students to NIMHANS in Bengaluru to check if they have contracted the Britain strain of Covid-19.
Health officials said on Thursday that in the past one month over 200 students from Kerala, who had come for studies in the district and to appear for exams had tested positive for Covid-19. As already the new strain of Covid has been found in Kerala, the district health department is taking no chance and has initiated all necessary precautions to check the spread of the infection in the district.
Presently all people coming to the district from Kerala are subjected to tests in the border. Students from Kerala have to compulsorily get Covid negative report while those coming to Dakshina Kannada by bus will have to undergo Covid test once in 15 days.
