Puttur, Nov 20: Within a day after the shocking incident of double murder came to light in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada, the local police have managed to crack the case and arrested the lone accused.
Kareem Khan, 39, a resident of Kuttattar area of Kuriya village, reportedly confessed to the crime soon after his arrest.
Sameeha, 16, and her grandfather Koglu Saheb, 62, were found dead in their house at Hosmaru in Kuriya village on Tuesday morning when the girl’s father returned home.
Koglu Saheb’s wife Khadeejabi had suffered critical injuries but was alive.
She was immediately rushed to hospital. According to police, Kareem Khan gained entry into their house in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday with the intention of burglary.
When the family members woke up, Khan attacked them with a kitchen knife before escaping with around 30 grams of gold and Rs 6000 cash. It is learnt that the accused and victims were known to each other.
