South Africa's Hashim Amla became the fastest player to 3,000 one-day international runs during the course of his 150 that set up the Proteas' 80-run win over England at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

Amla's brilliant 124-ball knock yesterday, featuring 16 fours, saw him reach the landmark in 57 innings compared to the 69 it took West Indies' Vivian Richards, one of cricket's all-time great batsmen. He is the third South African in a top 10 that also includes current Proteas' coach Gary Kirsten.
