In their very first season, MSD RN Racing Team, finished on the podium at the final race of the Supersport Championship 2012, a support race for the World Superbike Championship on the Magny Cours track in France on Sunday as their rider Dan Linfoot took the third spot.

Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, whose passion for bikes is well known, had floated his own racing team and the rookie team which had entered the World Superbike Championship midway this year is targeting a mid table finish to form a base for the next season.

But the team has already started doing wonders as Linfoot was seventh in Portugal last time before a podium finish on Sunday.

“It is a great result for the team and we are all really proud of this achievement by Dan and the crew. One can expect the team to do wonders come next season,” team chairman Arun Pandey said in a release.

The team has two competent riders in 19-year-old Marino, who was earlier with British Superbike Team and 24-year-old British rider Linfoot, who reached the podium courtesy his Kawasaki ZX-6R. Marino is a four-time Superstock 600 race winner, and was a full time Honda WSS rider last year. Linfoot had won two Superstock 600 races in 2008. The squad has its base at Yeovil in the UK and technical director will be Andrew Stone.

Telegu actor Nagarjuna is another stakeholder in the team.
