New Delhi, December 17: Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell resumed England second innings on the fifth day of the fourth Test against India at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur on Monday.

England ended Day 4 closer to a historic series win, reaching 161/3 at stumps, carving out a lead of 165 runs after India had declared at 326/9, four short of England's first-innings total.

Already 2-1 up in the series, the England batsmen are clearly looking to play out time on the dull Jamtha pitch, and all the onus is on India's bowlers to somehow try and manufacture a result in their favour.

With pride at stake, India were expected to be aggressive with their strategizing and with England three down for 94, they sensed an opening.

But Trott survived a probing spell from Ishant Sharma to complete a determined half-century. Along with Bell, Trott steadied the innings as the dull pitch blunted India's efforts.

Now, a draw seems the most likely outcome, though India will be hoping for a miracle.
