Mangaluru, Dec 18: The passengers of a Kuwait-bound Air India Express flight which took off from Mangaluru on Wednesday, December 17, were stranded for more than a day at Bahrain Airport after the aircraft developed a major technical fault half way through.
Nagesh Shetty, the Mangaluru Station Manager of AIE told coastaldigest.com that the flight IX889 was unable to take off after landing at Bahrain Airport due to a technical glitch.
He said men and materials have been flown to repair the plane which was grounded in Bahrain.
The same flight was supposed to carry around 70 passengers from Kuwait and around 100 passengers from Bahrain in its return journey to Mangaluru. No alternative flight has been arranged for them.
Source said that as many as 29 passengers of the stranded AIE flight flew to Kuwait by Gulf Air. The remaining passengers were provided accommodation and food at hotels.
