Mangalore, Apr 6: Basking in the recognition of his directorial debut Ulidavaru Kandanthe ' (As Seen by the Rest), actor Rakshit Shetty (of Simple Agi Ondh Love Story ' fame) spoke on the movie and its relevance and connection to the coastal region.
Interacting with students of Department of Mass Communication at St Aloysius College in the city on Saturday, the youngster said that rather than running successfully for a longer period in cinemas, he wanted the movie to remain in the minds of people for ages to come.
Since the dialect of the language in the movie leans heavily on the Mangalorean style of speaking, he said that the dialect in the script was a drawback till the film was actually made.
He said that he had based the five main characters in the movie of Richi, Munna, Ratnakka, Raghu and Balu on the five elements – fire, earth, water, air and spirit. “I did not write the script and direct the movie with a particular target audience in mind. I have kept it open to the audience to form their own conclusion to the story,” he said, adding that it was the best part of the movie to allow the audience to make their own conclusion.
“It is not a regular Kannada pulp movie; I wanted to create a thought in the minds of the people and wanted them to connect the dots,” he explained.
He revealed that the story was personal on various levels and the main character in the movie was inspired by his friends.
The movie contains several dialogues in local Tulu language and style, while also containing scenes from the coastal region. It was released on March 28 and is running in several cinema theatres and multiplexes in the state.
