Revealed: How much gold does Bappi Lahiri own

Kolkata, Apr 11: Known for always sporting flashy gold chains, veteran Bollywood musician Bappi Lahiri's wife owns more jewellery than hubby and he owns moveable and immoveable assets worth nearly Rs.12 crores besides five cars including BMW and Audi.

According to Bapi's affidavit filed with the Election Commission, he owns 754 gram gold jewellery worth Rs.17,67,451 while his wife Chitrani has 967 gram gold ornaments worth Rs.20,74,830.

Bollywood's 'Disco King' Bappida', who is contesting Lok Sabha polls on a BJP ticket from Serampore, also owns silver ornaments and bullion of 4.62 kg worth Rs.2,20,000.

His wife has 8.9 kg silver worth Rs.3,59,600 and 3.2 diamond carats estimated to be valued at Rs.4,27,353.

The playback singer and music director best known for his songs like 'Ooh la la la' and 'I am a disco dancer', is known for his fascination with gold jewellery.

A trademark gold locket of Lord Ganesha is always seen dangling from his neck besides a number of other glittering chains and bracelets.

In 2009, he had appeared in a TV commercial for a soft drink as the 'golden man' of India.

His affidavit says he has movable assets of more than Rs.2.93 crore. His immovable assets include flat and land worth Rs.9 crore.

He also owns five cars including a BMW and Audi.

Actress Amrita Pandey found dead after posting cryptic WhatsApp status

Popular Bhojpuri actor Amrita Pandey was found dead in her apartment in Bihar's Bhagalpur last week on April 27, the police said. The cops suspect the actor, 27, died by suicide but the matter is under investigation.

The police said she posted a cryptic WhatsApp status before her death, which read, "Do naav me savaar thi uski zindagi, humne apni naav duba ke uska safar aasaan kar diya" (His/her life was sailing on two boats, we made the journey easy by sinking one). The cops have not recovered any suicide note. She is survived by her husband.

Amrita's family said she worried about her career as she was not getting enough work and was suffering from depression. The family said she was undergoing treatment for depression.

The actor lived in Mumbai with her husband, Chandramani Jhangad, an animation engineer. She went to Bhagalpur to attend her sister's wedding on April 18. Her husband returned home after the wedding but Amrita chose to stay back.

The actor has been alongside Bhojpuri star Khesari Lal Yadav in 'Deewanapan'. She also acted in Hindi movies, TV shows and web series. She is also known for her role in the web series 'Parishodh'.

City Superintendent of Police, Shri Raj, said we will conduct a high-level investigation into this case. A team has been formed, the family members are being interrogated and further action is underway in the case.
