SDM Engineering College lecturer killed in crash, family hospitalized

Belthangady, Mar 29: Two persons including an engineering college lecturer died on the spot in a ghastly road mishap on NH 13 near Vyasanakere Railway Station coming under Mariyammanahalli police station limits in Hosapete taluk on Staturday.

Five others, including a four-year-old, were injured when a car collided with a lorry. The deceased were identified as Nitin Badiyadka(32), Assistant Professor in Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Engineering College, Ujire, and Shantakumar (27) of Salem in Tamil Nadu who was driver of the lorry.

The injured are Divya (28), wife of Nithin Badekillaya, his four year old son Ninaad, father Nityananda Badekillaya and mother Shashikala (56) and Divya's mother Prabhavathi (56). They were admitted to a hospital in Hospet for treatment.

The police said that Nitin and his family members were returning to their native place in Dharmasthala after visiting Mantralaya. A case has been registered at Mariyammanahalli police station.
