Mangaluru, Jul 4: Dakshina Kannada district unit of Social Democratic Party of India has threatened to organise a ‘Kalladka Chalo’ this month demanding the arrest of RSS veteran Prabhakar Bhat and Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell if the cops failed to arrest the duo in connection with the coldblooded murder of SDPI leader and social activist Mohammed Ashraf Kalai.
Addressing a press meet in the city on Tuesday, A M Athaullah Jokatte, DK district general secretary of the party, accused the police of trying to cover up the case just by arresting rowdy sheeter Bharat Kumar Kumdelu and his six associates and slapping weak charges against them.
“SDPI will formally confirm the proposed Kalladka Chalo on July 15 if the police failed to nab the duo by then,” he said.
He expressed suspicion whether police are trying to protect Mr Bhat and Mr Pumpwell despite “knowing” that those two were behind the murder that occurred on June 21 at Benajanapadavu village of Bantwal taluk.
Calling Mr Bhat ‘the mastermind’ behind several communal riots, attacks, stabbings and murders in the coastal Karnataka, he said that communalism will not end in the region until and unless cops take a bold step to put the communal hate-mongers behind bars.
SDPI leaders Iqbal Bellare, Ashraf Manchi, Shahul SH, Munish Ali and Ismail Aladka were present.
