Speaking to reporters here,?Siddaramaiah said Shettar was making baseless allegations against him by the day and it was unbecoming of a leader of the opposition. “I have not ordered the denotification of a single acre,” Siddaramaiah said.
Shettar, on Wednesday, had charged that hundreds of acres of land acquired for the layout were being returned to the land owners. Siddaramaiah said he did not read much into Shettar and BJP?State President Pralhad Joshi meeting Governor Vajubhai Vala at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.
The unscheduled meeting between Shettar, Joshi and Vala had led to speculations of the BJP?trying to use the denotification in Arkavathi Layout as a political tool to destabilise the Congress government. It was said that the BJP?would be using the office of the Governor to bring pressure on the Congress government.
Shettar, on Thursday, dismissed the speculations and said that it was just a courtesy call. “After he had taken charge, we had been unable to meet the Governor. On Wed- nesday, we were given a brief time to interact with the Governor. There was no discussion on Arkavathi Layout during our interaction,” said Shettar.
