Mangaluru: Stating that education is the biggest asset of an individual and community, U T Khader, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, said that girls should be imparted both religious and material education.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Siraat Academy for Girls held on Saturday, March 10, at Jamiyyatul Falah Auditorium, in Mangaluru. The Academy was launched by three women – Asiya Juveria, Khateeja Sunaira and Maryam Malika at Pandeshwar in city. It provides both religious and material education to the girls from pre-KG to Class 10.
“The biggest gift parents can give to their children is education. Both religious and material education should be given to the children to help them succeed in both the worlds,” the minister opined.
Inaugurating the event, Thwaka Ahmed Musliyar, Khazi of Dakshina Kannada, said that it’s the responsibility of the entire community to make sure that not a single member of the generation is deprived of education.
“Islam divides people into two categories: those who have knowledge and the ignorant people. The people belonging to the first category are always considered superior. Our community should understand this fact,” he said.
