Sunil Gavaskar escapes car crash in England: report

New Delhi, Aug 12: Former India captain and legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar had a miraculous escape in a road accident while travelling from Manchester to London after the conclusion of the fourth Test on Sunday.

The driver of his Jaguar car swerved to the right but failed to avoid a collision with another vehicle that hit them from the opposite direction. Gavaskar was travelling in the car with London-based friend Chandresh Patel and fellow commentator Mark Nicholas.

It was raining heavily, with Gavaskar seated on the left side of the back seat and the vehicle coming from the opposite hit the very side where the former India captain was seated. The Jaguar was badly damaged after the collision but luckily all the occupants came out unhurt.

Damage to the car meant forced all three had to catch a train to London.
