Mangalore, Aug 26: Strongly reacting to Hindu Jagarana Vedike state convenor Jagadish Karanth recent allegation against Prajaprabhutva Vedike president Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi over misappropriation of funds collected for the annual Sarvajanika Ganeshothsava celebrations held in Ujire during Ganesh Chathurthi, the latter claimed that the allegations had been made with a malicious intention.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr Shetty said that Jagadish Karanth had made maligning statements against him since he was the front runner in the movement demanding justice in Soujanya murder case.
“He is in fact, giving rise to such a situation due to the fact that he was not asked for his opinion or advice when a movement for Soujanya was launched. When this organisation has been organising the Ganeshothsava celebrations from several years, there is no need for any member to submit the records of accounting or expenditure for inspection,” he said.
He said that Jagadish Karanth had no morality to allege misuse or misappropriation of funds collected for the celebration of a religious programme.
He should put an end to baseless allegations made with the intention of maligning someone's reputation, lashed Mr Shetty.
