Three days after joining PU College, girl commits suicide in hostel

Mangalore, Jun 25: A pre-university college student was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her hostel room on Wednesday at Valachil, here.

It is believed that Mahima (17), daughter of Rajendra and Nitya couple from Kollegal in Chamarajanagar committed might have committed suicide as she was found hanging.

It is learnt that the deceased had admitted to the PUC at prestigious Expert PU College, Valachil, a couple of days ago.

Even though she did not leave behind any suicide note, police have recovered a notebook from her room, in which she had written a few words about her experience in new college.

It is learnt that she had not written anything negative about the new college. However, she had expressed sadness for staying far away from parents.

Police sources said that a book was found in her room, in which, in the first two pages she had written notes of some subject, and in the third page she described about her experience in the college.

Police are still clueless about the exact reason for the girl 's extreme step. Her friends reportedly told police that on Tuesday night she was crying and when they enquired she told them that she missed her parents.

A case has been registered at Mangalore rural police station and investigations are on.
