Dubai, Feb 5: The United Arab Emirates has imposed a travel ban on Binoy Kodiyeri, son of Kerala CPI-M's state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, after complaints of fraud were lodged against him by a Dubai firm. The ban prevents him from retraining to Kerala till the settlement of the case against him.
The Dubai Police confirmed that a travel ban has been slapped by the public prosecution as per the civil case lodged against Binoy for issuing a dud cheque. However, the ban can be lifted if he pays the money.
"A travel ban has been issued against Binoy Kodiyeri in case no 102/2018/69. We order to ban the debtor from travel and deposit his passport in the court's safe," a translated notice from the government to Binoy said.
Meanwhile, Hasan Ismaeel Abdulla Al Marzooqi, owner of the Dubai-based JAAS Tourism LLC, who lodged the complaints, landed in Kerala to hold mediation talks, sources said.
Binoy arrived in Dubai last week to settle the matter after he got a clearance certificate from the UAE criminal investigation department on January 25, it is learnt. The travel company accused Binoy of financial fraud to the tune of Dh 7 million.
