Udupi, Jul 7: Having achieved a national rank of 931 in the recent UPSC competitive examination, Priya Shetty wishes to make another attempt at the examination in order to secure a rank within the first hundred.
Expressing her ambition at the institution Prime Coaching Centre in Udupi where she took classes to prepare for administrative services examination two and half years ago, Priya Shetty said that she wished to become eligible to apply for IAS and IPS posts, and strive to appear for the examination again to secure a better rank.
Her father Ganapaiah Shetty hails from Sagar taluk in Shivamogga district, while her mother hails from Shiroor. Priya studied till Class 4 in Shiroor in Kannada medium and till Class 7 in Gajanoor, after which she completed her high school in Sagar and her PUC in Vivek College in Kota. Thereafter, she completed her B.Sc. course at MGM College in Udupi.
She had begun attending coaching classes during her B.Sc. course itself and has attempted the UPSC examination thrice. In her first attempt, Priya had reached the preliminary round and had been selected for the written examination in the second attempt. Presently, she secured a rank of 931 in the third attempt.
Although she is eligible to be selected for a good post in Indian Audit Services, Revenue Services and Postal Services, she wishes to secure a higher rank to become eligible for IAS and IPS posts. She said that she would appear for her next attempt at UPSC during her training duration for her job.
