Udupi, May 9: A half-decomposed body of a labourer was found in Bikriguthu near Padebettu village of Udupi district in a ruptured state on Friday.

From his uniform and sandals, it was found that Raja was employed in UPCL as a contract labourer for a private company. His body was discovered when the jurisdictional police came to investigate the source of fetid stench after locals in the area notified them.
Partially decomposed, the body was suspected to have been dragged along by wild animals. The trunk of the corspe was found wrapped in a large plastic sheet while a rope was found tied around the neck.
A missing complaint had been lodged in the jurisdictional Padubidri police station on April 17, shortly after he went missing.
After the discovery of his decomposed body near the woods, the police have conducted an examination by forensic experts at the scene, suspecting foul play in his death.
