Mysuru, Apr 9: Moderate to brisk polling has been reported from Nanjangud and Gundlupet assembly constituencies, where voting is being held on Sunday.

Polling has been by and large peaceful, but complaints of malfunctioning of EVMs and VVPATs (Voter verifiable print audit trial) machines were reported from both the constituencies.
However, officials managed to replace the malfunctioning electoral equipments and ensure quick resumption of polling.
Voter turnout in Nanjangud went up from 6.9 percent at 9 a.m. to 26.11 percent at 11 a.m. In Gundlupet, voter turnout increased from 6.6 percent at 9 a.m. to 23.3 percent at 11 a.m.
A total 2.01 lakh voters in Nanjangud and 2.08 lakh in Gundlupet are eligible to exercise their franchise.
In Mahadevnagar village, about 7 kms from Nanjangud town, which has about 650 voters, polling was boycotted. The residents said their village neither had a booth nor had witnessed any development for decades.
Former Minister V. Srinivas Prasad, who resigned from the Assembly after being dropped from the Siddaramaiah Ministry, is seeking re-election as a BJP candidate from Nanjangud (Reserved). He is pitted against Congress nominee Kalale Keshavamurthy.
Mr. Keshavamurthy exercised his franchise at his native Kalale village around 7.15 am.
In Gundlupet, former Minister H.S. Mahadev Prasad's wife Geetha Mahadev Prasad is contesting the elections as the Congress candidate against BJP's Niranjan Kumar.
