The election was free and fair. It seems Congress Party which has been contesting the election since independence doesn't like to accept the defeat. Now, let's look at the 7 year old political party SDPI which fielded its candidates at only 3 ZP constituencies and succeeded in securing 9% votes. The performance of this party at Pudu was really amazing as the 1st time contestant Riyaz Farangipete secured 22.06% votes, Congress got 36.65% whereas BJP won by securing 40% votes. This brought a new hope to this new party. If we look deep into the Taluk Panchayat results, where SDPI fielded its candidates at 18 places across DK and succeeded in securing 17.23% of votes. In Bajpe, SDPi candidate Shahnaz lost to her nearest BJP candidate by a margin of merely 280 votes. Here the congress got 1073. In fact, the congress's candidature helped BJP to win the election. Irony is that, at nearby Jokatte constituency, both Congress and BJP party workers were seen together in the victory celebration. By looking the photos and video of the way they celebrated the victory, The minority community must have decided whom to vote during the next election.
