Karnataka govt to procure 20 quintals of red gram from each farmer under MSP from Jan 1 to 30

Kalaburagi , Dec 19: The process of procurement of red gram under Minimum Support Price (MSP) will be held from January one to 30 and 20 quintals of Tur will be purchased from each farmer, Deputy Commissioner V V Jyotsna said, here on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference, she said that a total of 153 procurement centres will be setup throughout the district and registration of farmers has already begun.

She said that the district has produced 55 lakhs quintals this year.

She said that the Union Government has fixed the MSP of Rs 6,000 per quintal.

Meanwhile, The Chief Whip of Congress Dr Ajay Singh, who is also an MLA from Jewargi constituency in the District, has demanded that the State government should provide an additional incentive of Rs 1,500 per quintal above MSP of Rs 6000 per quintal.
