Senior Karnataka IPS officer injured as his service pistol misfires
Bengaluru, Sept 3: Senior Karnataka IPS officer RP Sharma sustained injuries after his service weapon misfired while he was cleaning it, informed Bheema Shankar Guled, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North East, Karnataka.
Police further informed that RP Sharma, who is currently the Director-General of Police of the Housing Board Corporation, was rushed to a hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.
"He is out of danger. He sustained injuries accidentally as the gun was loaded while he was cleaning it," said police.
Sharma is a native of Uttar Pradesh.

Bank shouldn't declare accounts as NPAs until disposal of pleas seeking moratorium extension: SC
New Delhi, Sept 3: The Supreme Court on Thursday directed that the bank accounts should not be declared as non-performing asset (NPA) as on 31 August should not be declared as NPAs until the disposal of the pleas seeking an extension of the moratorium period.
A three-judge bench, headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan, was hearing two petitions seeking an extension of the moratorium period on repayment of loans and to waive off the interest on the repayment of the loan amount in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
