Udupi: Newborn girl dumped in garbage bin; rescued by civic workers

Udupi, Aug 10: Civic workers in Udupi today rescued a newborn girl which was dumped in a garbage bin near Chittaranjan circle in the city. The child was immediately shifted to the district government hospital. 

"The girl baby is out of danger and is doing well," Legal-cum-Probation Officer at District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Prabhakar Achar, said.

Raped on her way to temple, 13-yr-old Karnataka girl kills self

Bengaluru, Aug 10: A minor girl died by suicide after allegedly being raped in a village in North Karnataka recently, police said on Monday.

According to police, the incident occurred when the girl, aged 13-14 years and studying in the eight standard, was on her way to a temple on July 30 at Bogur in Dharwad rural.

The girl returned home and reported the matter to her mother.

Later, she consumed poison, police said. She was rushed to a hospital but could not be saved.
