Bengaluru, Sep 29: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has sent the material evidence submitted by the victim in the second rape case, who complained of rape by Raghaveshwara Bharathi pontiff of Ramachandrapura Mutt, to the Forensic Sceince Laboratory (FSL).

The 25-year-old victim, a freelance artiste, had filed the rape complaint against the seer with the Girinagar police on August 28 stating that she was raped by the seer twice.
The victim said she was first raped in 2006 when she was a Class 10 student at a school in Hosanagara, Shivamogga district, the headquarters of the mutt. She was again raped in 2012 when she had come to the mutt’s branch in Girinagar in Bengaluru, where the seer was observing ‘Chaturmasya’.
Victim kidnapped
The State government has handed over this case to the CID, which is probing all cases involving the seer. The victim has stated that on September 13, 2014, when the CID was probing the first rape case, five men kidnapped her from her house in Bengaluru and took her to Hosanagara.
The men who kidnapped her threatened not to reveal anything about her case to the CID. The CID last week filed the charge sheet against the seer in the first case pressing charges of rape and divine displeasure.
The Criminal Investigation Department had stated that the DNA found on the material evidence produced by the victim in the first case matched with that of the seer.
