Mangaluru, Oct 20: Four more accused have been arrested by Mangaluru city police in connection with the Moodbidri Bajrang Dal activist murder case. With this the total number of arrests reached eight.
The four accused arrested on Tuesday are: Mohammed Shareef (42), son of late Aboobakar, Todar, Mustafa Kavoor (28), son of Ibrahim from Kavoor, Mohammed Mustafa (25), son of late Mayyaddi from Bajpe Kinnipadavu and Kabeer (28), son of Hasanabba from Kandavara Kaikamba.
Mangaluru City Police Commissioner S Murugan told media persons that all the four arrested were involved in the murder that occurred on October 9 in front of the flower shop of belonging to the victim’s father.
He said that Mustafa Kavoor, Mohammed Mustafa and Kabeer were directly involved in the murder while Mohammed Sherif provided information about whereabouts of the victim to the main accused.
The city police chief also said that during the interrogation the accused confessed their involvement in two previous murder attempt cases.
On September 20 miscreants brutally assaulted the Ashok and Vasu with lethal weapons at Handelu near Moodbidri and fled the spot in three motorbikes. In a similar way one Jaya Kotian was attacked near Permude under the limits of Bajpe Police Station on October 3. The accused in Prashant murder case had also involved in these two cases, according to police.
Mr Murugan said that more people will soon be arrested by the police in connection with the case based on the information given by the already arrested persons.
