Mysuru, Oct 14: The police have finally cracked the murder case of a 7-year-old boy by arresting his mother and her paramour at Kollegal in Chamrajnagar district.
The two allegedly murdered the boy after he them in a compromising position and threatened to tell his father.
On October 6, the Kollegal rural police received a complaint from 31-year-old Sakamma and her husband Nanjundaswamy, residents of Shikalalpura village that their son Prabhushankar alias Preetham had gone missing.
"During the inquiry, Nanjundaswamy said he suspected one of his relatives who lives in the same village and has a running land feud with him for years now. We summoned him to the station and questioned him but didn't get any leads," said a police officer.
"On October 10, Preetham's body was found floating in the village lake. Nanjundaswamy again alleged that it is a murder. So, we started inquiry again in the village. At that time, we got a clue that Sakamma, the boy's mother, was having an affair. We investigated further and found the alleged lover, her neighbour 40-year-old Nagarajamurthy," said the officer.
On the morning of October 6, Nanjundaswamy left for the fields as usual. Nagarajamurthy arrived at the house soon after, police said. "Preetham returned from school at noon somewhat unexpectedly and found the two of them in a compromising position. He threatened to tell his father. Sakamma pleaded with him not to do so but as he continued to threaten them, the duo decided to kill him." The deed was done before Nanjundaswamy returned from work.
