Mangaluru, Sep 3: A septuagenarian Haj pilgrim from coastal Karnataka has died of heart attack in King Abdulaziz Hospital in Saudi Arabia.

The deceased has been identified as Aboobakar (73), who hailed from Aranthodu village in Sullia taluk of Dakshina Kannada. His family is currently staying at Kumble in Kasargod district.
According to family sources, he had undergone dialysis treatment during the month of Ramadan. When his family members had tried to convince him not to undertake the pilgrimage, he had reportedly told them that he wanted to die during or after pilgrimage.
Aboobakar had come to Saudi Arabia along with his wife on August 4 through first haj flight from Mangaluru. After spending eight days in Madinah his health condition started deteriorating. He was then admitted to King Abdul Aziz Hospital in Makkah. On Friday he breathed his last.
His son Abdul Hakeem, who works in Madinah, was present with him in the hospital. The deceased is survived by his wife, four sons and a daughter. Haj volunteers of Karnataka Cultural Forum also visited the hospital.
