Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, district convenor of the party Robert Rosario said that a person named Santhosh had been killed by few accused in Charmadi village in Belthangady taluk on January 22 in 2012.
Although Santhosh was killed by being pushed under a bus, the police have reported the murder as an “accident”. Inspite of there being several individual witnesses, the police officer in-charge of the murder investigation Belthangady circle inspector Bhaskar Rai has diverted the entire incident and registered it as an accident case, which shows that he is involved with the accused, he said.
He said that although this matter was brought in front of the then-Superintendent of Police Abhishek Goyal, there were attempts by Belthangady circle inspector Bhaskar Rai and sub-inspector Yogish Kumar to hush up the case.
He also accused the Puttur subdivision 's assistant superintendent of police (ASP) M N Anuchet and Belthangady ASI Babu of delinquency in covering up the case.
Speaking on the occasion, Jayan Ichlampadi said that after continuous struggle for justice from the past two years, the Lokayukta had now submitted a report which confirms the delinquency of the above mentioned police officers with regard to the case.
He told mediapersons that the accused in the murder of Santhosh were Shivaraj, Manoj, Satish and Prakash, against whom no action was taken.
He urged that the five mentioned police officials should be subjected to a criminal investigation, not just a departmental inquiry. He also urged that the five police officials involved in covering up the case including former SP Abhishek Goyal should be dismissed from the police force.
“If the case if not handed over to CoD or CBI investigation within the next ten days, we will unitedly undertake intense protests in Nelyadi, Puttur taluk,” he warned.
