New Delhi, Mar 6: Fourteen AAP members were arrested after Delhi Police registered an FIR in connection with the clashes outside the BJP national headquarters here between supporters of the two parties that left 28 people injured.

According to police sources, an FIR has been lodged at Parliament Street Police Station on Wednesday night against AAP protesters including leaders Ashutosh and Shazia Ilmi.

Charges of rioting, obstructing a public servant from performing his duty and damaging public property have been slapped against them, the sources said.

Police had initially detained 33 people out of which 14 were arrested late on Wednesday night, while others were allowed to go.

"All those identifiable and present at the protest site have been named in the FIR," said a senior Delhi Police official.

Those arrested will be produced before a local court on Thursday afternoon.

28 people, including 13 AAP activists and 10 BJP supporters, were injured in the clashes, police said.

Police have termed the AAP protest completely illegal as no prior permission was sought in this connection by the party.

Police have also got the entire sequence of events videographed and senior officials said that more arrests are possible after identification in the video footage.

AAP workers, on Wednesday, had clashed with BJP activists outside the saffron party headquarters in Delhi and Lucknow after Arvind Kejriwal's car was damaged in Gujarat in retaliation to protests against his brief detention in the state.

Kejriwal, who began a 4-day tour of Gujarat, was detained on Wednesday for alleged violation of the model code of conduct by travelling in a long carcade. Shortly later, he was allowed to go.

Accusing Narendra Modi of getting scared of Kejriwal and initiating police action, AAP workers had stormed the BJP head office on Ashoka Road in central Delhi protesting against Kejriwal's detention in Radhanpur in North Gujarat where he has gone to "inspect" development that has been claimed by chief minister Narendra Modi.

The rival sides had attacked each other. Plastic chairs were hurled from inside BJP office on the protesters outside. Police had used water canons to disperse the warring activists.

BJP's president Rajnath Singh strongly condemned the incident.

In Lucknow, workers of Aam Aadmi Party, armed with brooms, had clashed with lathi-wielding activists of BJP and fought pitched street battles outside BJP office on Vidhan Sabha Marg in protest against the detention of Kejriwal.

Around three dozen AAP workers had staged a demonstration outside the BJP headquarters and allegedly attacked the saffron party office with bricks, drawing retaliation as BJP workers, carrying canes, took to the streets.

Kejriwal had accused the BJP of instigating violence in front of its headquarters in Delhi even as he apologized for some AAP activists "retaliating" while protesting his detention.

Kejriwal claimed that AAP workers were first attacked by BJP supporters. Some of the agitated AAP workers had responded by pelting "two or three stones".

"I am sorry for the mistakes committed by the AAP workers. They should not have resorted to violence on my detention," he said.

He also blamed BJP workers for attacking his entourage while travelling in Gujarat and said that the glass panes of his car were broken.

The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) on Monday responded to Karnataka’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) regarding a blue corner notice issued against JDS MP Prajwal Revanna.

In its response, Interpol said that all 196 member countries were alerted to identify and report if Prajwal Revanna is spotted at any port in their jurisdiction.

The Karnataka government issued a Blue Corner Notice on Sunday against Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexual abuse by his staff members.

A Blue Corner Notice is issued by the international police cooperation body to collect additional information from its member countries about a person’s identity, location or activities about a crime.

The notice was issued after the 33-year-old Hassan MP reportedly flew to Germany soon after the Karnataka State Commission for Women chairperson Nagalakshmi Chowdhary wrote to the CM to order a probe into the sexual allegations against Prajwal.

Last week, the anticipatory bail application of Prajwal Revanna was also denied by Justice Santosh Gajanana Bhat’s bench of People’s Representative Court in Bengaluru.

Earlier, his MLA father and son of former Prime Minster HD Deve Gowda, HD Revanna was remanded to Karnataka SIT custody in a kidnapping-related sex scandal case.

His arrest came after the kidnapped victim was rescued from Revanna’s close assistant Rajasekhar’s farmhouse in Kalenahalli, Hunsur Taluk after the SIT conducted the rescue operation to find her, the police said.

The abduction case was filed by the son of a woman who worked at the Revannas’ house for nearly five years. He alleged that his mother was kidnapped from her home on April 29 by Satish Babanna a relative of Revanna.

The Karnataka Sex Scandal case pertains to explicit video clips allegedly involving the 33-year-old Prajwal, grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, which went viral on social media.

Those videos began to make rounds in Hassan in recent days, following which the state government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the sexual abuse allegations against the MP.

Udupi: Udupi became the second city on the Karnataka coast after Mangaluru to launch water rationing, a senior official said on Tuesday.

Commissioner of the Udupi City Municipal Corporation Rayappa said that the rationing system will come into force from Wednesday and will continue till the water in the reservoir reaches comfortable levels.

The dam built across the Swarna river at a place called Baje, which is the only source of water for Udupi city, recorded 3.25 meters of water as against the top level of 6.30 meters.

The decision of water rationing will be reviewed periodically until the reservoir regains its fullest levels, the official said.

The Mangaluru City Corporation resorted to water rationing on Saturday following declining water levels in the reservoir built across the Nethravati river at Thumbe.

Mangaluru, May 4: A tragic incident unfurled last evening in Subrahmanya of Kadaba taluk in Dakshina Kananda, where a young gentleman, who had recently entered the bonds of matrimony a mere ten days hence, met his untimely demise due to a lightning strike.

As twilight descended, a tempestuous thunderstorm, accompanied by billowing rain clouds, cast its shadow over the locale.

Somasundar was diligently engaged in the task of piling up dried nuts in the yard to shield them from the impending deluge, when fate cruelly intervened, subjecting him to the fatal force of a lightning bolt.

Despite the expeditious efforts to convey him to Kadaba Community Hospital subsequent to his sudden indisposition, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Somasundar, who operated a car washing enterprise in proximity to Subrahmanya, is mourned by his mother, sister, and wife.
