Agumbe Ghat Road to be shut for whole of December

Shivamogga, Nov 20: The Agumbe Ghat Road that connects Malnad with coastal Karnataka will remain closed for the whole of December for repair work.

The Public Works Department (PWD) has received Rs 3.5 crore from the state government for repairing the 2.5-km road that is spread over Shivamogga and Udupi districts. The road will be maintained by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) after the repair, PWD superintending engineer B S Balakrishna said.

Vehicles bound for Udupi and Karkala via Agumbe can ply through Koppa, Sringeri and Bajagoli of National Highway 13. Vehicles bound for Kundapur and Byndoor from Thirthahalli have to pass through Mastikatte, Balebare, Siddapura and Kodluru, Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner M Lokesh said.
