Mangaluru, Aug 21: Bengaluru based regional airline Air Pegasus has started its operations on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru-Mangaluru sector.
The debut flight was launched at Mangaluru International Airport on Friday in the presence of Airport director JT Radhakrishna, and airlines managing director Syson Thomas.
Mathai PU, regional deputy commissioner of security from Hyderabad was also present on the inaugural function.
A press release by Mr Radhakrishna, said here that the first flight of Air Pegasus reached Mangalore International Airport from Bengaluru at 12:33 pm with 59 passengers on board. The flight with 42 passengers on board took off from Mangalore International Airport at 1 pm.
The flight operates on all days except on Tuesdays. Air Pegasus uses the ATR 72-500 type aircraft.
It operates scheduled to Southern Indian cities like Bengaluru, Hubballi, Madurai, Cuddapah, Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai. The use of ATRs is part of a policy of union civil aviation ministry to provide greater connectivity to tier II cities.
