Mangaluru, Jul 9: Clarifying that each student in every government school in Dakshina Kannada had already been issued their income and caste certificates for scholarship purposes, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim requested people to cooperate with the district administration and avoid waiting in long queues at Atalji Janasnehi Kendras and taluk offices in the district to apply for the certificates.

For students from minority communities, the last day to apply for the minority merit-cum-means scholarship is September 30 and it can be renewed by November 15. To apply for the minority scholarship, the last date is September 15 and the last date for renewal is October 10. For those belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and backward communities, the last date is July 31, which is likely to be extended till August 31, he informed.
Mr Ibrahim said that a total of 2,03,886 income and caste certificates had been distributed to students in the district in 2014 through schools, while an additional 87,482 fresh applications had been received.
He requested that the students and parents should approach the centres to submit their applications when there was no crowd. No person will be deprived of their certificate, he assured.
